Tips & Tricks to stay hydrated this summer

Did you know?

Did you know 75% of the bodies weight is produced by water? Yes, its true more than half of the body is produced by water! Did you also know that your body constantly loses water by doing an everyday task? Think of your body as a big plant. If you don’t water it, it can die. Causes of dehydration can include:

  • Dehydration
  • Vomiting
  • Sweet
  • Diabetes
  • Burns

Complications of dehydration

If you are dehydrated & you do not treat it some possible complications are:

  • Kidney failure
  • coma
  • Heart issues such as exhaustion & Stroke
  • electrolyte abnormalities

How to prevent dehydration

Preventing dehydration, fortunately, is not that challenging! Our bodies tell us when we are thirsty, we will feel like we need water. Drink water when your body needs it, other signs of dehydration are:

  • Dry mouth
  • Dizziness
  • High pulse
  • Yellow/dark urine
  • Fatigue
  • Bloated stomach

If you are going to do strenuous exercise, not near a water source, like hiking or running; be sure to bring water with you. Drinks with high electrolytes such as Gatorade & Powerade will also help replenish your body with the hydration it needs.  AFC offers treatment with dehydration.
