Why Do Fractures Happen?

Experiencing a fracture is never fun. No one wants to be in pain! It is important to remember that our bones are built strong enough to protect us from daily impacts and actually have a flexible quality to them to help reduce your risk of injury.

However, if a fall or an accident is severe enough, the pressure can become too much to support your bones and they can either fully break or crack. How Does an X-ray Diagnose a Fracture?

Once you have made it into our lobby, we will take care of you from there. We start first with a physical exam and ask a lot of questions to understand the details of the accident. After that, we will take you back to receive a digital X-ray. Digital X-rays are similar to traditional X-rays, except that they are uploaded onto a computer instead of developed on film.

This image that is uploaded can be blown up in size or zoomed in on a specific area, all without sacrificing quality or experiencing pixelation! That means we can identify even the smallest fractures because we can see every part of your bone. Fractures show up as dark spots on an X-ray, so if we notice one, we can discuss next steps and potential treatments together.
