FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Urgent Care Solutions Helps Deliver Medical Supplies to Rural African Villages

It’s often the simple things we take for granted that can make a big difference when it comes to reducing human suffering.

“I have made trips to Africa several times accompanying groups that are providing much-needed healthcare services and seeing the need first hand. I’ve seen people with broken legs walking around without crutches or broken arms without slings,” said Shay Kerman, Chief Operating Officer of Urgent Care Solutions in Denver. “They don’t have the money to purchase basic supplies.”

That’s why Darius and Shay Kerman have partnered with Project C.U.R.E. to deliver medical supplies to rural African villages in desperate need.

“I’m very excited about this partnership. Our headquarters is here in Denver and donations from a local organization like Urgent Care Solutions helps us deliver our mission,” said Dr. Douglas Jackson, President & CEO of Project C.U.R.E. “Because of COVID, there’s an even bigger need for medical services and supplies in underserved countries.”

COVID created a worldwide shortage of medical supplies. From personal protection devices (PPEs) to life-saving supplies to basic healthcare durables, the global demand has caused severe supply chain problems and increased prices. For rural and poor communities that are already suffering from a lack of resources, it often means doing without important medical care and supplies.

To help address this need, Urgent Care Solutions and Project C.U.R.E. have partnered to send a full container of medical durables to Africa. Urgent Care Solutions is helping to collect the supplies and ship them to Africa. Medical supplies worth millions will be distributed through local healthcare providers.

Project C.U.R.E. has provided more than $48 million in donated medical supplies both in the U.S. and abroad. Donated medical supplies and equipment are provided at no cost to local healthcare providers serving remote locations.

“I’ve traveled around the world supporting medical providers in remote villages. Now I’m here in Denver and see how a lack of PPEs, masks, and other medical supplies created challenges for patients and providers, especially in the early phases of COVID,” said Shay Kerman. “It became very clear to our team how important these medical supplies are.”

“It’s important that we provide medical care for people in our community,” she said. “But also, to help those less fortunate protect themselves and get the proper medical care wherever they are. With the support of our patients and team in the Denver area, it gives us the opportunity to fill this incredible need.”
