Spring Break and Travel Medicine

Hey Bentley University students!  The semester just started and it already feels like it’s never going to end, but you do have Spring Break to look forward to!  When it’s freezing outside and you’re stuck in the Bentley bubble, there is nothing to get you through these long, cold days.  How about day dreaming about tropical paradises, or European adventures?  Before you get too caught up in the fantasy of relaxing with your friends, there is one thing that you may have overlooked.  If you’re leaving the country chances are you’re going to need some sort of travel medicine or physical examination, something not offered through your school’s center for health and wellness.  Whether it’s malaria, hepatitis, or typhoid, nothing can ruin that amazing time away from Bentley faster than getting sick.
Many of the most popular spring break travel destinations, including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas and even European and Asian destinations like Italy, France, and China, have required and recommended medical precautions to take before venturing off.  Now that syllabus week is in the past, it’s papers, tests, and Bentley’s favorite: group projects.  With all that work it can be hard to find spare time to go get these seemingly annoying but extremely important medications.   Adding to the stress of the semester and your travel plans is the fact that you will generally need these immunizations four to six weeks in advance of your departure.  Don’t jeopardize your trip by not getting your immunizations on time.  Unlike most other options in the area, at AFC Urgent Care in Waltham you do not need an appointment or referral and we can take care of all of your travel medicine needs in a quick and efficient manner.
Did you also know that most times travel medicine is not covered by your health insurance?  We know that many of you work while you’re in school and the last thing you want to be spending money on is medicine.  This is why we strive to provide excellent medical care at the lowest cost possible.  We’re located next to Five Guys, Chipotle, and Panera so it’s also a great excuse to treat yourself to lunch or dinner before or after your visit to AFC Urgent Care!
We are here for all of your travel medicine needs from 8am-8pm 7-days a week.  We are staffed by board-certified physicians and have a flat screen TV in every exam room!  Don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, @DRXwaltham, to stay updated on all the services we have to offer.  We are here for you even after your vacation for all of your urgent care needs!
