Importance of Vaccinations

Vaccinations protect us from serious and sometimes even deadly bacteria and viruses. Therefore, it is important for your family, including children, to be up to date with each recommended vaccine.

How do they work?

Vaccinations work by taking advantage of the body’s immune system. When you receive a vaccination, you are being injected with a weakened strain of the bacteria or virus. When the body detects these invaders, it instantly creates antibodies that learn how the bacteria or virus functions and the most effective means of destroying it. Once your body knows how to destroy the bacteria or virus, the individual is now protected if exposed to that invader.

Is it safe?

Yes. Ongoing research continues to show that vaccines are safe and effective. Vaccines are given to millions of people, including children every day. Every recommended vaccination has gone through multiple tests governed by reputable organizations including the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Center for Disease Control (CDC).

What can they protect me from?
