Truck drivers and commercial vehicle operators can also book COVID-19 testing at AFC Urgent Care Tampa before they return to work. Many companies also require COVID tests before going back.
1.Reverse Transcriptase-PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing—this involves taking a swab from a SYMPTOMATIC patient’s nose or throat to determine if they have an ACTIVE coronavirus-19 infection. The exact sensitivity (ability to correctly identify those with the illness — true positive rate) and specificity (ability to correctly identify those who don’t have the illness—true negative rate) is not known.
2.Serology testing (Antibody Testing)-this involves taking a small sample of blood and testing it for antibodies against the COVID-19 virus. A positive test would indicate that a patient had been infected and has formed antibodies against the COVID-19. The current test offered at AFC will detect the IgG antibody against COVID-19. A positive IgG test may allow you to return to your normal activities without the worry of re-contracting COVID-19. The sensitivity and specificity of the antibody test are not yet known.
Your AFC Medical Provider can determine which test is indicated in your situation.
This exam is specifically for commercial drivers and is required by the government if you are a new hire or are thinking about going into this field then it is important you get this exam as soon as possible. This exam will be performed by a CME ( Certified Medical Examiner) prior to operating a commercial motor vehicle. These physical exams follow a very specific protocol made by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Different health complications may change the outcome of your exam, AFC Urgent Care Tampa strongly encourages drivers coming for the D.O.T Physical to bring a list of all current medications as well as current medical records. If you have any health-related issues with cardiac and neurological health issues please make sure to make a note of that when you see one of our Medical examiners.
If you have any questions or concerns about the D.O.T Physical Exam please feel free to call us at (813) 960-1100
