New Year, New You, and New Goals to Boost Overall Health

Even though we still have a month before the new year brings in 2020 and a new decade, it could be a good chunk of time to think about New Year’s Resolutions! If you’ve been waiting for the right time to make improvements to your health and wellness, what better time than a new year AND new decade?! This is a great time to start setting your goals for 2020 because you’ll have plenty of time to not only set goals but make a plan of how to turn those goals into a reality.

Setting Realistic Wellness Goals

An important crux of maintaining your resolutions is to set realistic goals for yourself. Saying you’re going to lose 50 pounds this year sounds great in theory, but how are you going to make it happen? Such a big goal like that is difficult to achieve because each small setback will make reaching the end feel impossible. Your goals should focus on small steps where you’ll notice quick improvement, not just one big goal at the end of the year.

Improving Your Overall Health to Lose Weight and Feel Better

As you set realistic goals, do so with your overall health in mind, as your health and habits improve, you’ll gradually lose weight and begin to feel better all around. For instance, rather than saying you’re going to go on a strict diet, begin to practice mindful eating. Mindful eating means eating without the distraction of your phone or a TV. When you practice mindful eating, you’ll get more in tune with your body’s hunger cues and stop eating faster. Dedicate yourself to 30 minutes of exercise each day, even if that exercise is just walking the dog. Your goals should be personal to you and your life, but keep your health in mind, above all else!

Maintaining Your Health Inside and Out

While you work towards improving your health and feeling better, you can’t forget to focus on your health inside and out. If you suffer an injury or illness, part of maintaining that health means seeking prompt treatment. Your local urgent care center is a great option that’s convenient, affordable, and effective. Urgent care centers can offer everything from STD testing to stitches, vaccines, and much more.

The new year is your time for a fresh start, so make the most of it! If you need help along your health journey, let the experts at urgent care help. Setting health and wellness goals for yourself is a personal decision, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it all alone!
