Winter Slips & Falls

"

February has been a tough month for New Englanders. The constant battle of blizzards has brought on piles of snow, the melting of snow and then the freezing of snow.

We have found ourselves shoveling more often than not, and when we aren’t shoveling we are trying to de-freeze the ice patches that have now become a part of our landmarks.

One of the most common dangers over the past month have been the slips and falls over unseen patches of ice.

To help avoid injury when walking on ice and snow, here are a few simple tips:

  • Walk slowly and deliberately and wear boots or other slip-resistant footwear
  • Be prepared for black-ice formation after melting occurs
  • Exercise caution when getting in and out of vehicles
  • Watch for slippery floors when entering buildings
  • Avoid carrying items. Keep hands empty so arms are free to move for stabilization. Use backpacks if possible.

If you are suffering from any back issues from shoveling or falling, stop by AFC Urgent Care in North Andover today! We have an on-site X Ray lab and are open 7 days a week! Call us at 978-470-0800.
