Spring Break Travel Medicine

For students of Merrimack College, Spring Break is in less than a month. If your Spring Break plans include international travel, consider visiting a travel clinic before you leave.

It is recommended that those who travel abroad be vaccinated against certain diseases depending on the country in question. For popular spring break destinations including Mexico and Dominican Republic, the CDC recommends Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccinations. They also go on to recommend Hepatitis B, Malaria, and Rabies depending on your plans abroad. Doctors also can prescribe anti-diarrhea medicines. No one wants to be sick while on vacation, especially not with Traveler’s Diarrhea.

In addition to these, it is recommended to receive a flu shot as the flu season is still in full swing, even if travel plans are domestic.

AFC Urgent Care in North Andover, directly up the street from Merrimack College, can help. We are a walk in center who offer travel medicine services including vaccinations.
