How Our Center Treats Allergies

"

Last week, we covered different preventative measures you can take to avoid some of spring allergies’ worst symptoms. This week, we’re going to discuss what our center can do for you if you’re experiencing any allergies.

While spring allergies are one of the most prevalent allergies around, there are a number of different allergies. Over 50 million Americans experience allergies each year. This includes spring allergies and others, such as:

  • Dusts
  • Drugs
  • Pets
  • Insects
  • Molds

Our center provides treatment for many of the above allergies. Our board-certified Providers will prescribe antihistamines to alleviate your allergy symptoms. While certain antihistamines can be purchased over-the-counter at the pharmacy, prescription antihistamines provide treatments for a wider range of allergy symptoms. However, patients suffering from severe allergic reactions should immediately visit an emergency room instead of our facility.

However, patients suffering from severe allergic reactions should immediately visit an emergency room instead of our facility. But for everyday symptoms, our center can certainly behave as a valuable resource for treatment. Such symptoms include:

  • Stuffy/runny nose
  • Coughing
  • Itchy Eyes
  • Hives/itchy skin

Antihistamines prevent histamines from developing. Histamines develop when the body comes in contact with different chemicals, which could be coming from anything, whether it be pollen, dust mites, pet dander, etc… Once these histamines are blocked, allergies will subside. For patients suffering from chronic illnesses, our center will refer them to a licensed allergist.
