After a summer full of no homework, watching TV late on weeknights, and fun in the sun, children are in for a rude awakening come the beginning of the school when they have the hit the books.

Most children need help transitioning back into a daily routine for a successful start to the school year.  This includes getting them into a regular sleep schedule, getting their diet back in balance, and making sure they are in good health.

Here are a few tips to get your child ready for the school year!

Establish a sleep routine: Going back to school puts an end to late nights watching TV.  To help your child get back into the routine of a regular sleep schedule, be sure to establish a new sleep time a few weeks before the school year starts.  This will help their body get adjusted to their sleep schedule until the new routine is established.  To get them in sleep mode,

Practice healthy eating: After eating ice cream all summer, get your child back into a healthy diet before the school year starts.  Get them into the habit of eating three regular meals a day and look into the school’s lunch options prior to the school year.

Get an annual physical: An physical is essential to monitor your child’s growth throughout the years.  Annual check-ups should be administered to ensure that your child’s medical records and vaccinations are up to date.  A regular physical reviews your child’s medical history, full physical examination, and referrals to specialists when necessary.
