Why should I see a doctor if I feel perfectly healthy? Too many people ask this question to justify not seeing a physician on an annual basis. The big problem with this rationale is that by avoiding the doctor’s office, you’re preventing a medical professional from detecting a potentially serious medical condition in its early stages.

This perception of immortality is especially common among young adults. Once they leave their childhood home, many never bother to replace their pediatrician with a physician. For some, this may be due to financial reasons. Fortunately, with the Affordable Care Act, young people can remain on their parent’s healthcare plan until they’re 26 years old.

While seeing a physician on a regular basis is important for everyone, it’s especially crucial for people with chronic medical conditions or ongoing prescriptions. This includes patients with diabetes, arthritis, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. However, there are many people who have these medical conditions, but since they haven’t visited a physician recently, haven’t been diagnosed.

Here at AFC Urgent Care Portland, we administer comprehensive primary care physicals (annual wellness exams), guaranteed to be both cost-efficient and convenient for you. Because it is our goal to ensure each of our patients are as healthy as possible, we take every step necessary to ensure our patients don’t have any significant undiagnosed medical conditions. Therefore, when you visit us for a physical, we always check for the following:

  • Blood Pressure

  • High Cholesterol

  • Blood Sugar

Our team of board-certified physicians can also assist you with any other medical concerns that you may be having. We also accept a number of the most common insurances, guaranteeing your visit to be both accessible and affordable.
