Does AFC Offer X-Ray Services?

Our team is the best in the area when it comes to diagnosing and treating injuries and illnesses. We start with a full visual examination, and we can run blood tests and rapid tests to figure out what is wrong or what is causing you pain.

In addition to these tests, we can take an X-ray of the area of concern using our state-of-the-art digital X-ray technology. Digital X-rays can help us diagnose fractures and conditions like pneumonia faster and more accurately.

Read on from our AFC Urgent Care Monroe Road team as we explain what makes digital X-rays great below.

What Is a Digital X-ray?

Traditional X-rays are probably what you are more familiar with—where the X-ray is taken and the image is developed onto film. Digital X-rays still take an image with X-ray beams, but this image is uploaded instantaneously onto a computer rather than waiting to develop on film in a dark room.

The purpose of an X-ray is to get to the root of what is causing your symptoms, so having a clear image of the area is really important. The picture that is uploaded onto our computers is crisper and much clearer than traditional X-rays, and we can zoom in on the picture without losing image quality. This helps us diagnose even the smallest signs of infection or the slightest fracture in your bone.

Conditions That X-rays Can Detect

  • Fractures
  • Kidney stones
  • Chest and lung issues like pneumonia
  • Abnormal masses or tumors

Do I Need to Worry About Radiation?

While the image technology with digital X-rays is more advanced than traditional X-ray film, the same X-ray light beams are used to produce the image. This means that here is still a small amount of radiation exposure, but we have good news! Even though all X-rays produce radiation, digital X-rays produce about 80% less radiation compared to their traditional counterpart.

If you are are concerned about a possible fracture or any symptoms you are experiencing, come see us! We are open seven days a week with an X-ray tech always on site to provide you with instantaneous images, and our providers can give you a faster and more accurate diagnosis.

Benefits of Digital X-rays

  • Reduced radiation exposure
  • Clearer images
  • Faster turnaround
  • Reduced environmental impact
