COVID-19 Health And Safety Checklist for Thanksgiving 2020

November 16, 2020

Who’s ready to stuff their faces this Thanksgiving? Let’s hope the only thing we do this holiday is “Gobble til you wobble”.

As we all would have hoped for a traditional Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends, this year we have to worry about spikes of COVID-19 cases and making sure that we’re not bringing that to the feast. So, what are we supposed to do now that we have family coming to visit and our kids returning home from college? How can we all stay safe this Thanksgiving?

With new Connecticut guidelines and our recent return to Phase 2, Thanksgiving is going to have to operate differently this year. AFC Urgent Care Danbury is here to inform and guide everyone on what to expect this Thanksgiving with a COVID- 19 health and safety checklist.

COVID-19 Health And Safety Checklist for Traveling

Be prepared when considering where to travel this Thanksgiving. COVID-19 is hot in over 40 locations in the United States. You definitely want to check out these red zone states so that you can make a decision on whether or not it’s a good idea to travel.

We highly suggest avoiding travel right now. We know it ‘s disappointing, but there area few ways to still make Thanksgiving enjoyable. If your grandparents live in a red zone state or community in Connecticut that has a high number of cases, you can always host a virtual Thanksgiving dinner. This way, it will help protect you and your loved ones from possible exposure. Better safe than sorry!

If you do travel, we suggest bringing extra masks, and hand sanitizer with you. You should avoid touching your face, eyes and mouth and make sure that you are washing your hands frequently. Lastly, get tested for COVID-19 before you go. Get COVID-19 tested and Flu Vaccinated before Thanksgiving

This brings us to our next point. Get tested before your celebrations! This way, you are not bringing the virus with you if you do plan on traveling. Getting tested is one of the most important tasks you should include in your COVID-19 health and safety checklist. In addition to this, you should also get vaccinated for the flu. Flu season just started and you don’t want to confuse it with COVID-19. A flu shot will help provide immunity and keep your loved ones safe from getting the flu.

**Important: You should avoid non essential contact with others for at least 14 days prior to your plans. Don’t get caught with the flu or COVID-19 before Thanksgiving. Get tested and get vaccinated for the Flu
