Coronavirus Outbreak – How Does COVID-19 Affect Havertown, PA?

Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains a global health concern

Call ahead if you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19.

Can I be tested for a COVID-19 infection at AFC Urgent Care Havertown? Is there COVID-19 screening available if I am not sure?

Yes, you can! Our clinic can provide screening and testing for COVID-19. All of our screening and testing for this illness are conducted remotely or at a dedicated offsite facility. All of our screening and testing for this illness are conducted virtually via telemed or outside our facility. We’ve established these protocols to protect the health and safety of our staff and patients at our walk-in urgent care center.

Do not come to our clinic if you believe you may have symptoms of COVID-19. Your symptoms will instead be evaluated through a telemedicine appointment. During this virtual video visit (which can be done through a smartphone, tablet, or computer with video and audio capabilities), you will be connected with Havertown-based physicians. Through this video link, they will evaluate your symptoms and order a COVID-19 test. Once arranged, your test will occur outside of our facility.

If you have any questions about this process, screening, testing, or our telemedicine system, please feel free to call during our clinic’s business hours at (484) 452-9400.

Is AFC Urgent Care open for non-COVID testing and other types of visits?

Yes! AFC Urgent Care Havertown continues to serve our neighbors in the Havertown, PA area. We continue to treat a variety of nonlife-threatening illnesses and injuries. Under state law, we are an “essential business" and have continued to remain open during this public health emergency. Our other usual everyday services, such as physicals and x-rays, are also available seven days a week. You do not need an appointment to be seen by one of our board-certified physicians at our walk-in urgent care center. We only ask that if you suspect you may have COVID-19 to make a telemedicine appointment for an evaluation.

The telemedicine services we offer at AFC Urgent Care Havertown are also available for non-COVID-19 illnesses and injuries. Many of these ailments can be evaluated, diagnosed, and treated over a video visit with one of our doctors. If during a telemedicine session, our doctor feels a face to face appointment is needed, we can then arrange for one at our urgent care center. Are you unsure if your illness or injury can be evaluated over telemedicine? Just call our urgent care center during our open hours and speak with our staff. They are more than happy to help guide you through the process or give you more information about it.

Thank you. We are grateful for the trust you have shown us, and we look forward to continuing to serve you here in the Havertown, PA area.

    AFC Urgent Care FAQs

    • Why does AFC provide two different COVID tests?

We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

    • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

    • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact your local clinic for the details.
