What is AFC Urgent Care telecare/video visit?
When you get at-home healthcare remotely, this is called telecare. It’s similar to regular healthcare from a doctor, but of course, it’s remote and you can get it at home! Telecare can be done through the phone or internet, and when it’s done over the internet and in a videoconference, this is called a video visit. With telecare, remote diagnosis and limited treatment are possible.
Telecare is great for minor health situations and when you have mild symptoms like flu symptoms. A telecare doctor will be able to provide you with a basic, visual physical examination or checkup as well as other telecare services like a prescription. This may be the best or only kind of care in certain situations like when there’s a risk of exposing yourself, your loved ones, or others to an illness.
What is telehealth?
Like telecare, telehealth refers to remote healthcare for minor health situations and for mild symptoms like flu symptoms. Telehealth and telecare are somewhat different, but the two terms can be used to describe this kind of healthcare, and so can the terms telemedicine and video visit.
What can be done via telecare?
Only non-life-threatening health situations and symptoms can be addressed with telecare. This can include earaches, seasonal allergies, minor sports injuries, mild flu-like symptoms, etc. Flu- or cold-like symptoms are a special case, however, as they could be symptoms of a viral infection that requires special medical attention. For these symptoms, a telecare doctor will determine whether or not they should be addressed, and if necessary, the doctor will recommend a prescription or either in-person or curbside testing and treatment. With telecare, someone like you can get diagnosis, treatment, a checkup, a prescription, or another common medical service at home without having to go anywhere!
Is telecare cheaper than standard healthcare?
Yes, it usually is less expensive than a trip to the doctor, and it’s also usually covered by insurance. Such is the case with telecare from AFC Urgent Care Duncan. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most other major insurances, and you can visit our Insurances page for a list of many of the insurers we work with, or you can call us to see if we work with your particular provider. Patients without insurance can benefit from our discounted cash-pay options.
