The coronavirus spread across the globe and in the U.S, it has spread more rapidly in some states than others. Even though the spread of the coronavirus has slowed in some states, it has picked up in others. There seems to be no end in sight and the virus is highly contagious. While new information keeps developing around COVID-19 as scientists continue their work to understand the virus, the big challenge is containing the spread until a vaccine emerges. How does the coronavirus spread?

CDC and WHO

The CDC and WHO want to ensure that patients understand the ways in which the coronavirus

can spread. In the U.S. more than 100,000 people have died from COVID-19 and that number continues to increase. The coronavirus is dangerous and has created a serious public health crisis. Despite all that has been uncovered about COVID-19, it is still a mystery in many ways and scientists are continuing to learn about how the virus spreads and the nature of illness it causes. It’s crucial to understand all that you can about it to protect yourselves and limit the spread.

Ways COVID-19 Spreads

The virus is believed to spread mainly through close contact from person-to-person. Transmission is possible when people are in close contact with one another, and the risk of COVID-19 is higher the closer the interaction between people and the longer the interaction between them. When respiratory droplets from an infected person escape through coughs, sneezes, or talks, it can land in the mouths or noses of people in close proximity to them, or possibly inhaled into people’s lungs. Not everyone infected with COVID-19 will show symptoms. According to the CDC, the virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily and is sustainable between people. Furthermore, COVID-19 may also be transmissible if a person touches a surface or object that the virus is present on and then touches their eyes, nose, and mouth.
