Stomach or Abdominal pain occurs between the pelvic and the chest region. Stomach Pain or Abdominal pain can have multiple causes and it can be crampy, dull, achy sharp or intermittent.

Types of Abdominal Pain

Stomach Pain/Abdominal Pain or Aches in the stomach and Abdominal area can be categorized into Localized: This is just limited to a single area of abdomen and often caused by one particular organ with the most common cause being stomach ulcers.

Cramp-like pain most likely is associated with constipation, bloating, diarrhea or flatulence and in women can mostly associated with menstruation pain.

Colicky: This may be indicative of more severe conditions

What to Eat?

Taking lots of rest while hydrating yourselves with small quantities of clear liquids till you feel better is essential. Substances such as milk that can form mucus, liquids with sugars such as juices and sports drinks, liquids containing caffeine such as coffee and any sodas especially carbonated sodas need to be completely avoided. Coconut water, Pedialite are very good products to hydrate yourselves. Gatorade is good but the excessive sugar in Gatorade may not be highly beneficial. If any solid food needs to be Introduced slowly with mild foods like rice, banana or a toast. 

Treatment & When to see the Doctor:

Mild abdominal pain may go away without treatment. A stomach virus typically runs its course in 12 hours to 2 days. In some cases, abdominal pain may requires you to take a trip to the doctor.
