Did You Know May is National Urgent Care Awareness Month?

May 18, 2017

nurseThe Urgent Care Association of America helps represent the 27,000 urgent care providers in the United States. Every year, the association celebrates the contributions of these urgent care providers in May. This initiative is called Urgent Care Awareness Month, as it helps highlight the benefits of urgent care.
Here at AFC Urgent Care Methuen, we celebrate National Urgent Care Awareness Month by continuing to provide the same top-quality urgent care as we always have since the day we opened. When we first opened our doors in 2014, our objective was to help provide accessible walk-in medical services to patients in the cities of Methuen, Haverhill, and Lawrence. Now, in 2017, we believe we’ve succeeded in our ability to help make medical care more accessible for the people of Merrimack Valley.

Why Choose AFC Urgent Care Methuen Over the ER

While urgent care centers have some advantages over the ER, it’s incredibly important to make sure that you visit the ER for all life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Having said that, many people fail to understand the extent of the injuries and illnesses that urgent care centers can treat. At AFC Urgent Care Methuen, we treat the following injuries and illnesses:

  • Joint Pain & Back Pain
  • Seasonal Allergies
  • Influenza
  • Strains
  • Colds & Respiratory Infections
  • Travel Vaccines
  • Sports Injuries
  • Work-Related Injuries
  • Fractures

We also accept most health insurances at our center, and with most insurances, a visit to an urgent care center has the same low-cost co-pay as a visit to the primary care physician’s office.
Why Choose Urgent Care Over the Primary Care Physician’s Office?
Your primary care physician can help diagnose potentially serious medical conditions in its early stages. This makes it essential for everyone to have a doctor they can visit regularly. However, in most cases, your primary care physician isn’t available on a walk-in basis, which makes it difficult to see them for everyday medical services, such as sports physicals, flu shots and travel vaccines.
Yet, here at AFC Urgent Care Methuen, we provide the aforementioned services on a walk-in basis 7 days a week. Next time your child needs a camp physical, visit us anytime during our convenient hours – no appointment necessary.
