Don’t know what services AFC Indian Trail offers? We’ve compiled a list of our most asked questions & answers, so you know who to turn to.
Life moves at a fast pace, especially if you’ve ever been to Kate’s Skating Rinks. So, when you or your loved one isn’t feeling well or twisted their ankle rollerblading you want answers, and fast.
At AFC Indian Trail, we treat a wide range of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, all under one roof. If you’ve never visited us before, you might be wondering what to expect. Here are seven of the most commonly asked questions we hear from patients in the Indian Trail community.
1. How Long Will I Have to Wait?
We know your time is valuable, so our team works hard to keep wait times short. While there are times when we get busy, especially because we accept walk-ins, most patients can be seen anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes after arriving. Although this may seem like a long wait, it’s considerably faster than an emergency room.
You can streamline your visit by reserving your spot online. This check-in tool allows you to complete paperwork before you arrive, so you can get the most out of your visit.
2. Can I Take My Kids to the Clinic?
Absolutely. AFC Indian Trail sees patients of all ages starting from 6 months and older. If your child has a fever, sore throat, ear infection, or minor injury, we’re here to help. Our providers are experienced in pediatric care and know how to make the process as smooth (and stress-free) as possible for parents.

3. Do You Handle Workers’ Compensation Injuries?
Yes! AFC Indian Trail works with both employees and employers to provide prompt care for work-related injuries. Not only can we help with sprains, cuts, burns, and more, but we also have a wide variety of occupational health services. This includes Department of Transportation physicals, drug and alcohol testing, and return-to-work physicals.
If your workplace participates in a workers’ compensation program, let us know at check-in so we can coordinate the proper documentation and treatment plan.
4. Do I Need an Appointment or Can I Walk In?
No appointment needed, we welcome walk-ins seven days a week. AFC is designed to offer quick and convenient care when you need it most. That said, if you want to shorten your wait, you’re always welcome to pre-register online ahead of time.
We’re available on weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and everything in between.
5. Can I Get Prescriptions or Medication at AFC?
No, our medical providers can only prescribe medications when needed, whether it’s antibiotics, antivirals, or something to help manage symptoms. While we don’t dispense medications on-site, we’ll send your prescription to your favorite pharmacy, so you can pick it up quickly and easily.
6. How Do I Know if My Insurance Is Accepted?
AFC Indian Trail accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Medicaid of North Carolina, and more. If you’re unsure about your specific coverage, feel free to give us a call; our knowledgeable staff is here to answer all of your insurance questions. No insurance? No problem. We also offer affordable self-pay rates.

7. Do You Offer Preventive Care Services?
At AFC Indian Trail our main focus is on illness and injury treatment, but we are also committed to keeping you in good health by providing you with educational information and resources.
While we don’t offer annual wellness exams or ongoing preventive care, we do provide some services that help patients stay on track with their health, like flu shots, physicals for school or sports, and common lab testing. If you’re not sure whether we provide a specific service, just give us a call or check out our website for the full list.
