Prostatitis

Prostatitis is often referred to as a prostate attack, and generally entails an inflammation of the organ. This inflammation leads to varying degrees of pain and difficulty with urination. About 50% of all men will have an attack at some point in their life.

What Causes Prostatitis?

Prostatitis is caused by bacteria that gets into the prostate gland either through the urinary tract, or through sexual contact.

Common Symptoms Associated With Prostatitis

  • Fever and chills
  • Pain while urinating
  • Frequent urination
  • Pain (usually in lower back or genitals)
  • Slow urinary stream

How Prostatitis Is Diagnosed & Treated

A physician can examine the prostate gland, but urine and/or blood samples can often identify an infection. After confirming that an infection is present, antibiotics will be prescribed.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
