The short answer—very! Colds are easily passed between one person and another, especially when we’re inside and in close quarters during the colder months. But there are steps you can take to prevent illness, including the common cold.

Ways to Prevent a Common Cold

  • Wash hands often.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Wash toys regularly.
  • Clean surfaces regularly.

Can You Exercise With a Cold?

As long as you have mild symptoms and do not present with a fever, then you can perform mild to moderate physical activity. Exercise can even help to relive nasal congestion. However, if you start to experience body aches and a fever, then you really need to focus on rest and staying hydrated. Listen to your body when it comes to working out.
