Fairfield County’s Doctors of Distinction is a unique award program celebrating the accomplishments of five physicians in Fairfield County judged by a panel of peers and scholars to be the most exemplary in the programs’ categories. Dr. Steven Heffer received the Community Service Award for his role as Owner and Medical Director of AFC Urgent Care in Bridgeport.
Dr. Heffer was recognized for developing an urgent care facility in Bridgeport to improve the quality of medical care available to his patients and the Fairfield County community. “Being raised in Brooklyn, NY, I knew when opening up an urgent care center, I wanted open up a facility that mimicked the same community in the Connecticut region,” said Dr. Heffer during the award ceremony. “Similar to Brooklyn, I see many patients in Bridgeport that are underserved, do not have a primary care physician, cannot get an appointment with their physician, and need exceptional, quality health care. I feel that I can deliver my vision of medicine to this population. Since opening the center in March 2014, patients love us and come back. They immediately know they are in a different facility and we care and respect their medical needs. We’ve made a lot of amazing diagnoses just in the first 14 months of operation.”
Dr. Heffer plans to open a second facility in Fairfield by the end of this year.
