Food Poising

Food Poising

Now that Thanksgiving is approaching it is important to know the sign of food poising. Whether you are eating at home or eating out somewhere on Thanksgiving sometimes the food doesn’t always get as prepared as it should. We here at AFC Urgent Care Worcester will do our best to help you get over your illness.

Symptoms

Food poisoning is not an illness to go undetected some symptoms you may experience are:

  • Stomach cramps
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Weakness
  • Loss of Appetite

How can we test?

Food poising can usually be tested with a simple stool test.  Also staying away from raw foods on cold plates or foods that do not look fully cooked. The bacteria typically comes on a warm surface & can be transferred with touch. So if you think you have eaten something bad don’t force yourself to eat any more of it.

How do we treat?

Food poisoning can be treated with a simple sports drink & some nutrients. Electrolytes are crucial to getting back into your body if you have been vomiting. If you have any more questions or concerns please contact us here at 508.755.4010

Food Poising FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
