Can I be tested for COVID-19 at AFC Urgent Care West Chester?

Yes. Screening and testing for COVID-19 is available at AFC Urgent Care West Chester.


Can the tests be used for Travel or Surgery?

Yes. As requirements may vary depending on the location you are traveling to, verifying the COVID testing requirements for your specific situation is recommended.


COVID-19 tests we offer:

RAPID RT-PCR Test:

  • Nasal swabs are analyzed at our center in our laboratory for quick turn-around results.
  • Highly accurate
  • Available as a self-pay option. It is ideal for patients who need tests for travel, back to work, or attending large events. The cost is $150.
  • Results are generally available in less than 1 hour.

Rapid Antigen Test:

  • Nasopharyngeal or Nasal Swabs analyzed at our center in our laboratory for quick turn-around results
  • Some antigen tests may not be as accurate as the PCR or Rapid Molecular test
  • Used on symptomatic patients when seen by a Provider during an office visit. Covered by insurance
  • Available for Asymptomatic patients as a self-pay option for $80 when required for travel or work, etc.
  • Results are generally available in 15-30 minutes.

PCR (sent out to lab):

  • Nasal or Throat swabs are collected at our center and sent to LabCorp for analysis.
  • Used primarily with symptomatic patients when seen by a Provider during an office visit. Covered by insurance.
  • Results are generally available in 1-3 days.

Is antibody testing available?

Yes, we offer antibody (or serology) testing for the coronavirus that looks for and detects antibodies in the blood produced as part of the immune response to the virus.


What is the turnaround time for the results?

  • The rapid test results are available the same day - usually within 1 hour.
  • PCR testing as a send-out to LabCorp results takes about 1-3 days.
  • Antibody testing blood samples are sent to LabCorp to analyze. Results are generally back in 2-5 days.

How do we get our results?

  • For all of our Point of Care Rapid testing, results are emailed through the patient portal or are available for pick-up at our center.
  • For PCR and antibody tests—results are available on the LabCorp patient portal or via our secure email or phone call, or can be picked up at our center.

    We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

  • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

    We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

  • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

    That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact us for the details.
