Where are you located and how do I get to your center?

We are located on East Gay Street in West Chester, PA. We are between Pardo’s Automotive and Tires Plus. We have a parking lot available for you.

When should I not visit an Urgent Care practice?

If someone is experiencing life-threatening conditions such as significant chest pain, shortness of breath, rectal bleeding, passing out (syncope), or extremely high fevers in the young or the elderly, they should go to the ER. In those cases, those issues are best treated in an Emergency Room at your local hospital. Although board-certified physicians staff our offices, life-threatening emergencies often require advanced levels of care available only at a hospital.

What Type of Medical Treatment do you Provide?

We specialize in fast and effective physician care for most non-life threatening conditions due to illness or injury, preventive care, travel medicine, and employer services. We bridge the gap between a primary care physician and the ER, providing extended hours, seven days a week, with CLIA-certified labs, digital x-rays, splints & braces, vaccines, prescriptions & some non-narcotic medications. However, you should always call 911 and seek a hospital ER if you have a life-threatening condition or emergency.

What is the difference between Urgent Care and Emergency Room?

Urgent care is for conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate, serious threat to your health or life. If your medical issue is life-threatening, call 911 or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an Urgent Care Center such as AFC Urgent Care West Chester is an excellent alternative. What do I need to bring when I come to AFC Urgent Care?

Do you do STD testing?

At AFC Urgent Care, we can perform a comprehensive screening for STDs. Most insurance plans will cover the tests, but we have affordable self-pay prices if you are uninsured. Our providers will discuss the different tests and which would be appropriate, depending on your risk factors and symptoms.

How is an Urgent Care different from my regular doctor’s office?

Since we are a walk-in center, you can be treated at AFC Urgent Care Center without making an appointment if you have a busy schedule or do not feel well enough to wait to see your Primary Care doctor. While both care for common illnesses, urgent care is better for non-life-threatening injuries requiring X-rays or sutures. You should visit your Primary Care doctor if you have chronic health issues that require managed care, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or psychiatric disorders. At our Urgent Care Center, we work with your Primary Care doctor and will send your visit records to your doctor so they can follow up with you.

How long is the wait to see a provider at AFC Urgent Care Center in West Chester?

Patients are seen on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis and are usually in and out within 1 Hour. Occasionally, patients may experience longer than the typical wait time if multiple people walk in simultaneously. We try to staff our clinics appropriately to keep wait times minimal.

How much do specific vaccines cost?

The cost of each vaccine is different. Please call for specific prices.

How much is a typical visit?

For insured patients, we collect your deductible and/or co-pay at the time of service and then bill your insurer. After your insurer sends us an EOB (explanation of benefits), AFC Urgent Care will bill you for any balance still due.

How much will the visit cost if I have no insurance?

We have a standard discount for all our rates for patients without medical insurance. The total cost of your visit depends on the services you use at our walk-in urgent care clinic. Our center offers on-site lab testing, state-of-the-art digital X-rays, and on-site prescription medication. The costs for these services are additional, but we will always explain the cost before proceeding with any procedure so you can decide whether to move forward.

I am going abroad. Do you offer travel immunizations?

Yes, please ask about our Travel Medical Program.

If I have insurance, will I get a bill after my visit?

Our fees are fixed, but the amount that your insurance company covers depends on your specific plan. We collect your deductible and/or co-pay for insured patients at the time of service. After your insurer processes your claim, if there is a balance due, we will bill you for the remaining balance.

Do I have to make an appointment?
