Strep Throat Treatment

Strep Throat Treatment

Strep throat is a bacterial infection that is much more common among children than adults. Strep throat’s symptoms can be very similar to a common cold with coughs, fever, and sore throat. That’s what makes it very difficult to properly diagnose on your own. If being left untreated, strep throat might bring complications.

Strep throat is different from a sore throat

While most of the symptoms are similar, strep throat is much more serious than a sore throat if being left untreated or treated poorly. A sore throat is just a scratchy and irritated feeling that goes away after a few days. Strep throat is caused by bacteria that can grow in your throat and makes it much more painful.

Symptoms

Common symptoms of strep throat include high fever, swollen lymph nodes, and hectic coughs. Additionally, the tonsils can be red or white.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
