Measles Back in the News; Why We're Seeing It Again

Measles has resurfaced in New York and Connecticut. at AFC Urgent Care Stamford we want you to know what to do should you come in contact with someone with Measles-like symptoms. The majority of the cases are being traced back to “Anti-Vaxxers”, people opposed to immunizations. In the case of the measles, the MMR vaccine, Measles, Mumps and Rubella is the vaccine responsible for wiping measles off the map in Connecticut and what can be used to treat measles when caught within the first 72 hours. This is the first year since 2000 that we have seen it. Highly contagious, the measles virus  is spread through the air. Measles symptoms can include stuffy nose, red eyes, and a distinctive rash that often starts at the hairline and can appear on the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet.
