Older Man Wearing A Mask Seeking Medical Care At AFC Urgent Care Saugus

We often hear that men sacrifice their health so that they can take care of their families first. Historically, this may have pertained to certain generations in the past, but in the past decade, men have made some progress when it comes to seeking medical help and preventative care.

Let’s continue to face these men’s health issues together! AFC Urgent Care Saugus is here to help men get routine checkups to enable them to  live a longer and fuller life. Afterall, these men’s health issues can easily be prevented.

In light of June being Men’s Health month, we encourage you guys to check in, so we can check you guys out.

Guys, Let’s Face These Health Issues Together

Did you know that the leading health issue for men is heart (cardiovascular) disease?

Statistics continue to show that heart disease can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Uncontrolled blood pressure and cholesterol are contributing factors to heart disease making this disease more debilitating for men.

Let’s not forget about the “silent” and “deadly” diabetes. Men are often predisposed to this health condition at a young age and sometimes- often times- there are no symptoms. There are millions of people in the U.S that don’t even know they have diabetes or are borderline diabetic. Having diabetes raises your risk for developing other dangerous conditions such as: Heart disease, heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, nerve damage and eye problems. The last thing you want is for diabetes to affect your nervous system, cause organ failures and worse, amputations.

It’s time to take care of your heart, man. Heart disease and diabetes can easily be prevented by getting your blood pressure checked and your blood glucose sugar levels (a1c) and cholesterol levels checked more often. In addition to this, exercise, eating healthier and working with a doctor to monitor your health are good strategies to avoid these diseases.

Men Often Get Injured At The Workplace! More Than Women!

It’s true! Each year, The U.S Bureau Of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports both fatal and nonfatal injuries and illnesses at the workplace. Are men looking for danger? Or is it because they’re prone to injuries? The jury is out on that one.

The report further elaborates the most common injuries are sprains, lacerations, slips, falls and driving accidents. It’s not that men get injured because they’re “men”, but it’s rather that they work in dangerous conditions that raises their risk of injury.

June is also health and safety month for the workplace. We encourage men to take more safety precautions at work and to wear safety gear to avoid accidents and mishaps. In the event you do get hurt or injured, come see us for worker compensation services and we’ll get you back on your feet.
