Influenza, better known as the Flu, is one of the most contagious viruses in the world. Capable of spreading one day before symptoms and up to nine days after, the flu is one of the most important viruses to get vaccinated against. Germs from the flu are capable of spreading 6 feet through coughs, and sneezes and can live on surfaces for up to eight hours. Most people who contract the virus deal with a variety of symptoms that can drastically affect their lives.

Timing Is Everything

It takes up to two weeks after receiving the flu vaccine for the antibodies to fully develop in your system. The vaccine stays in your system for over a year, but weakens over time. This is why it is important to get vaccinated annually, and receive a flu shot in the fall, before the peak of flu season.
