COVID-19 Testing Results

COVID-19 Testing Results Form

Thank you for choosing AFC Urgent Care. We offer many different kinds of testing at our facility. There are two major categories of test- lab and point of care (POC).

LAB TESTING

Lab tests (throat & urine cultures, stool, blood tests, STD, etc) are sent to Labcorp, our independent 3rd party laboratory provider. We merely collect the sample at our facility.

You may obtain results for Labcorp tests here: https://patient.labcorp.com/

We do NOT call the patient if the result of a lab test is negative- you must obtain them online at Labcorp’s website. Please do not call the facility for these results.

POINT OF CARE TESTING

POC tests (rapid antigen, rapid PCR, flu, strep, mono, urinalysis, pregnancy, glucose, etc) are performed and resulted at our location, in most cases while the patient is onsite. POC results must be obtained before leaving the facility.

COVID-19 TESTING

We offer multiple kinds of COVID-19 tests- both lab and POC.

Each test has different purposes- however, all 3 PCR tests below are true RT-PCR:
  • Cepheid RT-PCR| $199: this is meant for patients that need to obtain timely, accurate results for travel, return to work or return to school. This testing is not covered by insurance. Results are available within 1-2 hours. Please obtain results before leaving the facility- we cannot email them.
  • Abbott NAAT Molecular*$169 this is meant for patients that need to obtain timely, accurate results for travel (NOT AN RT-PCR), return to work or return to school. This testing is not covered by insurance. Results are available within 1-2 hours. Please obtain results before leaving the facility- we cannot email them.
  • Rapid Antigen| $59: this is not as accurate as a PCR but is suitable for most purposes. Results are available within 15-20 minutes. This test is covered by insurance when ordered by a medical provider. Patients can also pay for this test without needing to see a provider if testing is for a non-covered reason.  Please obtain results before leaving the facility- we cannot email them.
  • Broad PCR| $99: this is for patients that need the accuracy of PCR but do not need results immediately.  This testing is not covered by insurance. Results are available typically by the following morning or within 24-48 hours from when the sample is sent to the lab- they are sent directly to your email.
  • Labcorp PCR: this test is covered by insurance when ordered by a medical provider. Patient must see a provider for this test. Results typically take 24-72 hours (from the time the sample is sent to the lab) but may take longer. We do NOT call for negative results- please obtain them directly from the lab here: https://patient.labcorp.com/

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why does AFC provide two different COVID tests?

We offer a rapid test because they provide highly reliable results on the spot; however, they do produce more false negatives than the RT-PCR COVID-19 Test. Doing both tests is our way of ensuring that you get the most accurate results possible without having to put your life on hold.

  • How long does it take to get a COVID test?

We're able to get many patients in and out in a matter of minutes, but the length of time you'll spend in our clinic will depend on wait times that day.

  • How much does it cost to get a COVID test?

That will ultimately depend on your insurance coverage. Presently, many people with insurance are able to get tested at no charge. If you’re uninsured, AFC’s cash pay prices are highly competitive – contact your local clinic for the details.
