Medical Assistant or Nurse (LPN or RN)

Summary

Provides general nursing care to patients in outpatient clinic setting by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Prepare equipment and aid physician during treatment and examination of patient.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Maintain awareness of comfort and needs of the patient.
  • Properly start lab equipment daily; Perform maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
  • Maintain daily log; document all requests and results of lab work accurately.
  • Draw blood from patient’s finger, ear lobe, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples.
  • Perform laboratory tests according to written instructions.
  • Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures according to guidelines.
  • Order and stock supplies weekly.
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests; share responsibility of call back sheets.
  • Utilize lab software, as well as any lab equipment according to the proper procedure and instruction.
  • Collect specimen from the patient utilizing the approved equipment, sequence and procedure.
  • Observe patient, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • Ensure patient immunizations are appropriate, well documented and administered using approved nursing techniques.
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as needed basis.
  • Document nursing history and physical assessment of patients.
  • Rotate among various clinical services such as lab, nursing and x-ray.
  • Prepare rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Ensure work area is neat and clean, fully stocked and all laundry items have been laundered and put away.
  • Manage difficult and emotional customer situations.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Respond to all patient messages; documenting conversations in electronic medical records system, assist with any patient discharging duties and share responsibility of call back sheets.
  • Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands/Work Environment (optional)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Medical Receptionist

Summary

To accurately check patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining patient records and accounts. Maintain patient flow. Provide positive patient relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents.
  • Greet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork, and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards.
  • Register patients, update patient records, and verify insurance accurately and timely.
  • Follow company procedures related to workers’ compensation and occupational medicine patients.
  • Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues.
  • Discharge patients accurately and timely by collecting balances, providing patient documentation, and following discharge procedures.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests.
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports
  • Complete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports.
  • Prepare, sign, and drop the deposit in the safe on a nightly basis.
  • Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain office supplies.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management
  • Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent. Previous medical clerical experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office. Accuracy and detail orientation. Positive customer service skills. Well-groomed appearance. Clear and articulate phone voice. Tactful interpersonal relationships.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Office environment. Standing for extended periods of time. Sitting and keyboarding for extended periods of time. Reaching and stooping for files. High attention to detail and ability to focus. Potential exposure to potentially infectious material and chemicals. Moderate noise level.

Position Description
X-Ray Technician

Summary

Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injuries and disease. In addition to x-ray tech duties, this position may also serve as medical receptionist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – X-Ray Tech

  • Greet the patient, ensure that the patient has removed all jewelry and metal objects, is wearing the appropriate medical gown and is not pregnant.
  • Prepare and position the patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by the physician.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Maintain a neat and clean working environment and ensure all supplies have been ordered and stocked.
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
  • Utilize both digital and non digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all AFC/Doctors Express policies and procedures.
  • Prepare images for reading by physician as well as contact any additional physicians if a second opinion is needed.
  • Aid physician with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocol as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one year related experience and/or training. ARRT-registered or board eligible preferred. Medical Assistant Certification or registry, Practical Nursing License, EMT or Paramedic certification or license preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment (optional)

  • Standing regularly throughout the shift.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals and fumes, such as those used to develop x-ray films.
