Frequently Asked Questions at Walk-in & Urgent Care Clinic in Downingtown, PA

At AFC Urgent Care & Walk-in Clinic in Downingtown, we look forward to helping you feel better

Do you treat STDs?

Yes, we do have STD treatments available. And rest assured that we treat your medical information with a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

Does your AFC Urgent Care take Keystone Health Plan East HMO Insurance?

How is an Urgent Care different from my regular doctor’s office?

Since we are a walk-in center, you can be treated at AFC Urgent Care Center without making an appointment if you have a busy schedule or do not feel well enough to wait to see your Primary Care doctor. While both care for common illnesses, urgent care is a better choice for non-life-threatening injuries that require X-rays, sutures, or diagnostic lab work. You should visit your Primary Care doctor if you have chronic health issues that require managed care, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or psychiatric disorders. At our Urgent Care Center, we work in conjunction with your Primary Care doctor and will send your visit records to your doctor so they can follow up with you.

How long is the wait to see a provider at the AFC Urgent Care Center in Downingtown?

Patients are seen on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis and are usually in and out within 1 Hour. Occasionally patients may experience longer than the typical wait time if multiple people walk in simultaneously. We make every effort to staff our clinics appropriately to keep wait times to a minimum. You can also save your spot in line and register in advance. Click here to begin, and it will speed up our intake process when you come to our urgent care center.

How much do specific vaccines cost?

The cost of each vaccine is different. Please call for specific prices.

How much is a typical visit?

For insured patients, we collect your deductible and/or your co-pay at the time of service and then bill your insurer for you. After your insurer sends us an EOB (explanation of benefits), AFC Urgent Care will bill you for any balance still due.

How much will a typical visit with insurance cost me at this AFC Urgent Care Center in Downingtown?

It varies between insurance plans and individual benefits. At the time of visit, we collect the co-pay, if you have one, then bill your insurance for the services we have provided. For in-network services, if you have already met your deductible or don’t have a deductible or co-insurance, then the insurance company will pay based on their contract rate. If we are out of network with your insurance, or you have a deductible that has not yet been met, or you have a co-insurance, we will bill you for the balance based on the insurance company's contracted rate. Visit our Health Insurance Information page for a list of insurances we accept.

How much will the visit cost if I have no insurance?

We have a standard discount for all our rates for patients without medical insurance. The total cost of your visit depends on the services you use at our walk-in urgent care clinic. Our center offers on-site lab testing, state-of-the-art digital X-Rays, and on-site prescription medication. The costs for these services are additional, but we will always explain the cost before proceeding with any procedure so you can decide whether to move forward.

I am going abroad, do you offer travel immunizations?

Yes, please ask about our Travel Medical Program.

If I have insurance, will I get a bill after my visit?

Our fees are fixed, but the amount your insurance company covers depends on your specific plan. For insured patients, we collect your deductible and/or your co-pay at the time of service. After your insurer processes your claim, if there is a balance due, we will bill you for the remaining balance.

What do I need to bring when I come to AFC Urgent Care?

The patient needs to bring a photo ID and insurance card. If the patient is a minor, we use the photo ID of the accompanying parent or guardian. You can also speed up the intake process by registering online. Click here to start.

What is my co-pay for a visit to the AFC Urgent Care Center in Downingtown?

If you want to know your co-pay before your visit, please call us at (610) 518-1060 with your insurance details, and we can give you the exact co-pay for your plan. If you have a deductible, you may owe more, and we will bill you for the balance. Visit our Health Insurance Information page for a list of insurances we accept.

What is the difference between Urgent Care and Emergency Room?

Urgent care is for conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate, serious threat to your health or life. In general, if your medical issue is life-threatening, call 911 or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an Urgent Care Center such as AFC Urgent Care is an excellent alternative. Click here to read more.

What Type of Medical Treatment do you Provide?

We specialize in fast and effective physician care for most non-life threatening conditions due to illness or injury, as well as preventive care, travel medicine, and employer services. We bridge the gap between a primary care physician and the ER, providing extended hours, seven days a week, with CLIA-certified labs, digital x-ray, splints & braces, vaccines, prescriptions & some non-narcotic medications.

However, if you have a life-threatening condition or emergency, you should always call 911 and seek a hospital ER.

When should I not visit an Urgent Care practice?

If you are experiencing life-threatening conditions such as significant chest pain, shortness of breath, rectal bleeding, passing out (syncope), or extremely high fevers in the young or the elderly, these issues are best treated in an Emergency Room at your local hospital. Although board-certified physicians staff our offices, life-threatening emergencies often require advanced levels of care available only at a hospital.

Where are you located, and how do I get to your center?

We are located in Downingtown, PA, across from Kerr Park and next to Green Street Grill, Planet Fitness, and Sherman Williams Paint. You can receive more specific directions from our Directions page.
