Sport Injury

Sport Injury

AFC Urgent Care Dedham now offers sports injury care. We encourage parents to put their children in school sports! School sports offer a lot for a child such as:

  • Teaches healthy eating habits
  • Teaches exercise tips
  • Teaches character
  • Gives your child a friend group/support system

However, if your child is in contact sports sometimes they will still get injured. Below are some of the treatments that we offer to get your child back on the field!

Cuts & Stitches

Contact sports have more of a chance of getting a physical injury in gameplay such a football or soccer. If you have a deep gash or cut our physicians will look at you and go through the assessment process which is:

  • Clean the wound
  • Asses if the wound needs stitches
  • Administer stitches if necessary
  • Bandage wound & tell recovery time.

Breaks & X-rays

If your child has suffered a hard collision & feels a break may have happened we can treat that too. Our physicians will offer the option of doing an x-ray. After the X-ray, they will then see what kind of break your child has and plan the next course of action. The current breaks that we treat are:

  • Fractures (hairline, Oblique)
  • Breaks in minor parts of the body
  • toes
  • fingers
  • feet
  • hands

If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at  781.461.0200. We are open 7 days a week from 8-8 on weekdays & 8-5 on weekends!

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
