Winter is finally upon us, and with that comes the snow; hockey, ice skating, sky, snowboarding and sledding enthusiasts have been waiting for this season for far too long! But with these action sports, comes a lot of risk; between heavy snowfall and black ice, emergency rooms and doctors’ offices are filled with winter sports enthusiasts.

Last year, snowboarders alone accounted for one-quarter of all winter sports injuries. Half of these snowboarder had broken or sprained bones, usually in the hand, wrist or elbow. Sledding is another concern, racking up more than 700,000 injuries last year alone; about 30%  of these injuries involved head injuries due to collisions.

Here at AFC Urgent Care, we encourage all of our winter athletes to take caution when hittng the slopes or rink. If an injury ever does occur, AFC Urgent Care Bound Brook’s walk in urgent care clinic is open seven days a week.

There is never any waiting, and our board certified physicians will look and help cure your injuries right away. For more information on our sports injury services, please give AFC Urgent Care Bound Brook a call at 732-469-3627.
