Spring Allergies

Spring is near and for 35 million Americans, that means seasonal allergies. When pollen from trees and plants enters the air, and then enters a person who is allergic, the immune system attacks it with an immune response. This response triggers the symptoms of runny nose, sneezing, and itchy/watery eyes. High pollen counts can mean those with allergies are more likely to suffer.

If you feel you may have allergies, visit your doctor. Your doctor may refer you to an allergist. Most likely, if you experience these symptoms yearly, you may have allergies.

To alleviate symptoms, you may use many over-the-counter medications. These are decongestants, antihistamines, eye drops, or nasal sprays. If necessary, there are prescription medications your doctor can prescribe.
