Pneumonia is an infection which affects the lungs. It can leave you very sick. Symptoms of Pneumonia include coughing, fever, and difficulty breathing. Diagnosis is completed by a doctor who performs an examination including a chest x-ray and/or blood tests. Pneumonia is treatable. Bacterial pneumonia is treated with antibiotics. Viral pneumonia is usually also treated with antibiotics to prevent further complications. Always take all antibiotics even if symptoms disappear.
Always get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids. Cough symptoms can be alleviated with a cough medicine. If needed, a doctor may prescribe a stronger cough medicine.
