Heat Exhaustion Prevention

"

There are many ways you can prevent heat exhaustion from happening to you as the temperature begins to rise this summer. Heat exhaustion occurs when your body starts to overheat and causes you to feel weak, sweat heavily and lose consciousness. These symptoms often occur right away, however, if you are working out for a long period of time while it’s extremely hot out, then the symptoms of heat exhaustion may develop over time and go untreated which then can lead to more serious damage.

Here is how you can prevent heat exhaustion this summer;

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Avoid sunburns
  • Wear light colored and loose clothing
  • Check your medications on sun exposure side affects
  • Seek a cooler place like the shade or air conditioned room
  • Avoid exercise or vigorous activities in hot weather

Heat exhaustion is completely preventable. Know your body’s limits and don’t push yourself too far when it’s really hot outside!
