The Medical Director Opportunity:

AFC Portland is looking for a Medical Director to join the established leadership team to help us become the "Starbucks of Retail Medical Services". The Medical Director will be a physician leader who has the proven capability of leading a team of physicians and physician assistants and embed the purpose and values in the team. Networking in the industry and helping hire the right physicians and other providers is a key requirement of this leader. He/She will be a role model for other providers and the broader clinical team on embodying our Core Purpose and Core Values in everyday conduct. The Medical Director will be an excellent clinician who patients love and want to come back to for entrusting their care with; he exemplifies and is a role model to other providers in how to handle difficult and challenging patients.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be a role model in providing high quality patient care (70% patient care).
  • Be a champion of the various lines of service we have established: Urgent Care, Primary Care, Occupational Health and Immigration Physicals. Be an active team member in deciding and executing on other service offerings based on market analysis and AFC Portland capabilities
  • Interview, and hire providers, adhering to the internal hiring process
  • Partner with Operations managers and other organizational development personnel to train and onboard the new providers ensuring a high quality experience
  • Manage the provider team and supervise (including facilitating other physicians to supervise) PAs in a busy group medical practice – ensure proper follow-up, protocols & policies are being followed, performance management etc.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Partner in the creation of performance evaluations, create and monitor development plans, and coordinate any disciplinary action, including termination
  • Collaborate with Operations Director in topic and agenda creation for provider staff meetings; run these meetings successfully with high attendance
  • Manage charting and coding quality control by following the agreed upon processes and standards established by the practice
  • Work with all Executive Staff and clinic management to promote teamwork and help ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Be savvy in using electronic tools; become a super user in DocuTap/EMR and also internal productivity tools (Google Apps, Scheduling tools etc.)
  • Supervise laboratory – take training course to become certified laboratory director and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Team with Operations Director to maintain the standards for the clinics re: the necessary equipment, supplies, medications to efficiently serve the patient base as established by the franchise and local requirements
  • Team with the Sales and Marketing Director to position the brand and the practice in the community well. Be a catalyst for the sales team in helping grow the Occupational Health business for the practice. Function as an AFC Spokesperson and Medical Expert at off-site events on a monthly basis.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop a close, collaborative working relationship with the Board of Directors and Executive team
  • Team Player - Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with peers and subordinates.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish required tasks without supervision; good upward communication with the Managing Partner
  • Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills. Adept with emails and other real time communications used by the practice
  • Digital Savvy - Ability to utilize EMR/software, spreadsheets and word processors
  • Supports and incorporates practice goals into daily activities.

Requirements:

  • Active Oregon MD/DO License
  • AACLS Certification
  • Board Certified
  • Experience with EMR

Compensation:

  • Open 8am - 8pm Monday-Friday, 9am - 6pm Saturday-Sunday (no swing shifts)
