Men's health issues are important and they need to be talked about more often. Some of the most common men's health issues include heart disease, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. These are all serious diseases that millions of men die from every year.

Since men are notorious for skipping their doctor’s appointments, we highly suggest getting a checkup more regularly so that these health issues can be avoided with early detection and treatment. With that being said, AFC Urgent Care Springfield encourages men to take preventative care more seriously. June is Men’s Health month and we created a preventative guide on the most common health issues men face with age.

Men’s Health Issues Can Be Prevented With Early Detection

Men can easily prevent these common health issues with a routine checkup:

  • Heart disease
  • Prostate cancer
  • Testicular cancer
  • Diabetes.
  • High blood pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Low Testosterone Levels

Did you know that heart disease (cardiovascular disease) is the leading cause of death in the United States? Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are also contributing factors that can lead to heart disease. But, what they all have in common is that they can easily be prevented by going to the doctor’s office more often, exercising more, eating healthy and avoiding a sedentary lifestyle.

Oftentimes these health conditions, if left undetected or untreated, can lead to heart failure, stroke, heart attack, kidney disease, amputations and other complications..

The various cancer types listed above are also something that can be prevented by going for a checkup with a urologist and by performing more self checks for testicular cancer at-home. Did you know testicular cancer is very common in men from ages 15-34? Don’t wait for the problem to come to you. Do yourself a favor and get checked more often.

Men Are Also At Risk For Workplace Injuries

Labor statistics continue to show this gender gap and how the type of jobs can increase a man’s health risks. Some might think it’s because men are attracted to danger, but it’s actually the type of job that increases their risk of injury. These labor statistics also show that roofing, construction, logging and other jobs related to this field are where men get injured the most.

June is also health and safety month for the workplace. We highly encourage more men to get a  checkup, consider more safety precautions at work, wear protective gear and avoid being overzealous at the jobsite because danger is secretly attracted to you.
