Regular checkups with a physician is a great way to make sure your doctor knows what you’re like when you’re healthy, so they can better treat you if you’re sick. Certain conditions, such as the common cold or influenza, may not be able to be cured with medication, but the symptoms can be treated and controlled. If you or your child suffers from a constant runny nose, cough, or a sore throat it could be a warning sign for infection or other illness.

What to do when you spot general illness

Spotting general illness can be hard at first, but each and every symptom is important to note. If you suspect someone in your household is sick, you should begin taking precautions to prevent the illness from spreading to others in the household. Practice proper handwashing, vaccinations, and regular doctor’s visits to protect against general illness as much as possible. If you do come down with an illness, begin treating it as soon as symptoms arise to avoid the condition worsening or spreading to those around you. Remember to listen to your body and if something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Denying the illness we feel coming on so we don’t have to miss school or work will only make it worse in the long run. Set yourself up for success by learning to spot general illness as soon as possible.
