Food Poisoning

Food Poisoning

The Holiday season is here & we know that most of us will be attending holiday parties! Some holiday parties will be at someone’s house & others may go to a holiday party at a restaurant; in both situations, these parties will lead to food! Unfortunately, sometimes the food is not prepared correctly & this can lead to food poisoning.

Symptoms

Food poising is not something that is usually overlooked some symptoms of food poisoning that you may encounter are:

  • Stomach cramps
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of Appetite

How Can We Test?

Food poising can usually be tested with a simple stool test. A stool test is the quickest & most effective way to test for food poisoning

How To Avoid Food Poisoning

Also staying away from raw foods on cold plates or foods that do not look fully cooked. The bacteria typically comes on a warm surface & can be transferred with touch. So if you think you have eaten something bad don’t force yourself to eat any more of it could lead to you getting food poisoning.

How Do We Treat?

Food poisoning can be treated with a simple sports drink & some nutrients. Electrolytes are crucial to getting back into your body if you have been vomiting. If you have any more questions or concerns please contact us here at (201) 588-1300

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
