Knowing what to expect can help you arrive prepared and avoid unnecessary delays in the hiring process. What Is Included in a Pre-Employment Physical and Drug Screening?

Every pre-employment physical is based on your employer's requirements and the type of work you'll be performing. During your visit, one of our medical providers will review your medical history, check your vital signs, and complete a physical exam to determine whether you're able to safely perform the essential duties of your position.

If your employer requires drug testing, it can often be completed during the same appointment using our on-site laboratory services.

Depending on your position, your visit may also include:

     Pre-employment drug testing

     Vaccinations or immunity (titer) testing

     Respirator fit testing or spirometry

Additional laboratory testing requested by your employer

Completing these services during one visit can help keep your onboarding process on schedule.

How Should You Prepare Before Your Visit?

Before coming to the clinic, bring a valid photo ID and any paperwork provided by your employer. If you wear glasses, contact lenses, or hearing aids, bring them with you. It's also helpful to have a list of your current medications and any medical documentation your employer has requested.

Many people visit our Boylston Street clinic before work, during a lunch break, or after the workday. With walk-in availability and extended hours, it's easier to complete employment screenings without taking time away from your schedule.

How Long Does a Pre-Employment Physical Take?

Most pre-employment physicals and drug screenings can be completed during a single visit. The exact length of your appointment depends on your employer's requirements and whether additional testing or lab work is needed.

If follow-up testing is required, our team will explain the next steps before you leave so you know what to expect.
