Other notable coronaviruses include SARS-CoV (severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus), which caused an epidemic in 2002 in Toronto, Canada, and MERS-CoV (Middle East respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus), which caused an outbreak in 2012 across the Middle East.
