Flu season starts within the fall and winter months, and can sometimes last until May. The best way to stay safe and healthy is by getting a flu shot. The end of October is the best time to be prepared for the season ahead, but there is no bad time to get a flu shot. Our physicians can help you determine which medications will help ease any symptoms.

Symptoms of the Flu

While the flu shot will not give you the flu, you may still experience symptoms, or have the chance to still catch the flu. The flu shot is 70% effective, but will help contain the spread to those around you who are higher risk. If you think you may be sick, check these symptoms to see if you may have come down with the flu!

Flu symptoms will show up about a week after the immediate infection. Some initial symptoms of the flu are:

  • A fever over 100.4
  • Aching muscles
  • Chills & sweats
  • A sore throat
  • Nasal congestion

If you are experiencing these symptoms then you should come to our Urgent Care facility to have one of our physicians give you an examination. It is the best way to keep you safe, and help contain the virus from those around you.

  • Why choose AFC for Urgent Care?

With state-of-the-art centers and a professional medical team, AFC provides on-site X-rays, labs, procedures, and more!

  • What's the difference between AFC Urgent Care and emergency room services?

Urgent care is for medical conditions that require prompt attention but do not pose an immediate threat to your health or life. Here is a simple rule of thumb: if your medical issues(s) are life threatening, call 911, or go directly to a hospital emergency room. If not, an urgent care center such as AFC is an excellent alternative.
