The novel coronavirus, or more commonly known as COVID-19, has caused mass shutdowns of local economies, schools, and major community organizations. As our communities navigate this pandemic, AFC Urgent Care Lakewood is here to keep patients informed and safe as healthcare providers monitor the ever-changing environment.
AFC Urgent Care Lakewood is currently open and will remain open to ensure access to our walk-in clinic and urgent care center so that patients have access to immediate and high-quality medical care. On top of enhanced cleaning procedures, we have added new services and options for patients including the ability to wait safely in your vehicle until our providers are ready to see you.

What is COVID-19? How can I stay informed about the pandemic and related updates locally?
COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that originated in China and quickly spread due to gaps in virological surveillance and preparedness globally. Coronavirus is a type of virus that impacts a patient’s upper respiratory system.
Public health officials and the Centers for Disease Control name the strain detected in Wuhan, China as “2019-nCoV." Patients that need more information about COVID-19 should visit the CDC website and the Colorado Department of Public Health site.
How widespread is COVID-19 and what are the symptoms?
There are over 2,000,000 cases of COVID-19 reported In the United States and over 30,000 cases reported in Colorado. The symptoms of coronavirus include the following:
- Fever or chills
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
Patients of advanced age (60+), patients with autoimmune issues/concerns, and patients that have multiple chronic conditions are at higher risk for fatal symptoms. Symptoms of COVID-19 that require emergency room care include extreme difficulty breathing, bluish mouth and lips, and consistent pressure of the chest. Do not book an urgent care or clinic appointment for these symptoms, please visit the ER.
Does AFC Lakewood offer COVID-19 Testing?
Yes, in fact our urgent care center provides both COVID-19 swab testing and COVID-19 antibody testing for our patients.
A swab test allows our providers to check patients for an active COVID-19 infection. Antibody tests are useful if you believe you previously had COVID-19 and want to check for an immune response. If you have questions about either test, please contact our clinic today.

AFC Urgent Care Lakewood is open for urgent care through in-person visits.
We maintain CDC protocols for increased sanitation, personal protective equipment, and testing for patients. In addition, we offer masks to our patients and allow them to wait in their vehicle until they are ready to be seen. These enhanced policies allow us to maintain peak infection control while still allowing our patients to get in-clinic treatment for both traditional medical illnesses and injuries as well as COVID-19 related care.
