December 6th marks the beginning of National Influenza Vaccination Week and continues through to December 12th.

National Influenza Week (NIVW) is a national observance that was established to highlight the importance of individuals receiving their yearly influenza vaccination.  As long as different strains of the flu virus continue to spread and cause illness, choosinHave you gotten your flu vaccineg to get a vaccination will help protect you and those closely around you from the flu.

It is highly recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for everyone as young as 6 months old to protect themselves with the vaccine. Those who are at highest risk of possible serious complications of the flu include:
pregnant women, people that are of the age 65 and older, young children, and people with certain chronic health conditions. These types of conditions include lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, and asthma.

Serious flu-related complications include pneumonia, increasing pre-existing health conditions, and possibly hospitalization. The flu vaccine is the best tool available that can protect you and your loved from this potentially serious disease.
