No appointment is needed; we offer walk-in STD testing at all AFC clinics. Your visit and results are completely confidential, and you can pay out of pocket if you prefer not to use insurance.

Your STD/STI test results go to you directly via the method you pick at check-in: the patient portal, a phone call, or a text alert.

If you use insurance, your plan receives a claim and may mail an explanation of benefits to the policyholder. If you would prefer to keep things completely between us, our self-pay pricing is listed below.

Please note, some infections must be reported to the state health department by law. This reporting is completely confidential and is required for every clinic, hospital, and lab in the country, not just AFC.

A test taken too early can come back negative even when there is something to find. These are the usual STD testing window periods:

Self-Pay STD/STI Testing & Treatment Pricing

We bill most insurance plans. If you use insurance during your visit, an explanation of benefits may be mailed to the policyholder. Self-pay prices above are the full cost, and nothing is billed to your plan.

What to Expect During Your STD/STI Testing Visit

1. Check In

   Walk in or book online. Your privacy comes first; our team will ask about the reason for your visit discreetly, never in front of the waiting room.

2. Private Intake

   A provider reviews your symptoms, health concerns, and what you would like tested.

3. Sample Collection

   Usually, a urine sample, a blood draw, or a swab will be collected, depending on what tests your provider recommends.

4. Results

   Rapid results are delivered during your visit when available. Others come back in about a few days and are communicated via your preferred delivery method.

5. Treatment

   If a result is positive, same-day STD treatment is prescribed right here at AFC. Some infections are even curable with a single dose of antibiotic.

6. Notifying Partners

   We'll walk you through who should know about positive STD/STI test results and how to go about informing them, including anonymous notification service options.

How to Prepare for STD/STI Testing

• Bring your photo ID and your insurance card, or plan to pay self-pay
• If a urine sample may be needed, try not to urinate for about an hour beforehand
• Know the approximate date of the exposure you are concerned about
• Be prepared to provide a list of your symptoms and any medications you are taking
• Do not apply cream or ointment to a sore you want looked at
