Medical Laboratory Technician
General Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Lab Technician who is a great team player, a
good communicator, and has the skills and motivation to provide excellent customer service. The job entails
working in an exciting and demanding start-up high complexity lab environment.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
The duties will be performed in accordance with policy and procedure, standard of care, and in accordance of
state & federal regulations. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Be a team player and be willing to enhance the team output. This is a critical attitudinal and behavioral
component that is foundational to all the rest of the responsibilities below.
- Provide patients, employers, and other customers excellent customer service.
- Independently and accurately performs routine and complex molecular testing, including DNA/RNA extraction
and PCR. Has more than one (1) year real time PCR experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Two years or
more preferred.
- Maintains a professional level knowledge of molecular biology and diagnostics to properly analyze and review
molecular testing, in the context of normal and abnormal or atypical findings.
- The successful candidate will have excellent pipetting skills and experience in a high-volume clinical
laboratory environment.
- Performs initial and final review/analysis of test results and patient reports.
- Assist in resolution of technical problems in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Records, compiles, and maintains records according to laboratory policies to ensure state and federal
regulations are upheld for all reagents, procedures, and equipment used in the testing process
- Assist in the development, evaluation, and implementation of new procedures and protocols.
- Responsible for assuring timely ordering of supplies, general lab housekeeping, and maintaining all records.
- Operates, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment. Notifies the Supervisor or Director of Lab
Services when complex problems occur.
- Maintains effective communication within the department and with other internal and external clinical and
development professionals.
- May include the answering of telephone calls from client offices, the receipt and accessioning of specimens
to maintain a high level of customer service.
- Participates in the training of new and current employees in laboratory methodology as instructed by the
laboratory leadership/senior technologists.
- Attend company training meetings offsite as requested by the manager.
Secondary Functions:
The following functions may typically be performed by other positions, however, these may require the additional
assistance from MAs:
- Answer inbound telephone calls to the lab.
- Answer questions, transfer calls to providers and clinics or administrative office if appropriate.
- Perform other job-related duties as directed by the supervisor.
Specific Job Skills:
- Team player who is equally comfortable working independently
- Warm, friendly attitude with excellent patient interaction skills
- Ability to understand medical terminology.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail,
critical thinking, and dependability.
- Skilled in using our EMR suite (DocuTap and Clockwise) and Lab software
- Skilled in Office Productivity software (Google Docs)
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
Education and Experience Required:
- Meets all qualifications set forth by CLIA for high complexity testing and any state requirements if they
apply.
- Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Medial Laboratory Technology
or related field demonstrating the capacity for the required knowledge and skills.
- ASCP, AAB, AMT or equivalent certification.
Pay and Benefits:
- $21.00 - $24.00 / hour DOE
- Generous Employee Profit Sharing bonus program paid quarterly (all staff eligible, following probationary
period)

Schedule Availability:
- The lab is open every day, with normal working hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Saturday-Sunday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM with 30 minute lunch.
- The available lab shift is Wednesday 1:30pm-7:30pm, Thursday & Friday 9am-8:30pm, and Saturday 9:00 AM -
5:30 PM. Possibility for part-time as well.
- Flexibility to assist with vacation coverage of team
