Medical Director and Provider

Dr. Leia Dawson, D.O.

I'm Dr. Leia Dawson, and I'm honored to serve as the Medical Director for American Family Care - AFC East Cobb.

I'm a proud alumna of Xavier University of Louisiana, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree with double minors in chemistry and Spanish, including a semester of studies in Seville, Spain. Continuing my education, I obtained a master's in public health degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, with research experience in St. Ann, Jamaica, resulting in a publication. I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (formerly the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey). I completed my residency in Family Medicine at Floyd Medical Center.

At AFC East Cobb, I'm excited to bring my wealth of expertise and leadership to our dedicated team of 14 staff members, ensuring the clinic operates at the highest standard of patient care. My appointment as Medical Director is aimed at making a significant impact on East Cobb's healthcare landscape, aligning with AFC's mission of providing exceptional medical services to the community.

I am also scheduling immigration physicals for families or individuals in need.

Elleni Kebede, MSN, APRN

I'm Elleni Kebede, an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner at American Family Care, East Cobb. I'm passionate about helping my patients feel comfortable, heard, and confident in the care they receive.

I earned my master's degree in nursing from Georgia State University and remain committed to staying current with advancements in healthcare so I can provide thoughtful, up-to-date treatment tailored to each patient's individual needs.

When you visit me, I take the time to listen, understand your concerns, and look at the complete picture of your health. My approach is thorough, compassionate, and focused on providing accurate diagnoses and clear treatment plans.

Most importantly, I want every patient to feel welcomed and valued. Whether you're visiting for an immediate health concern or ongoing care, my goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and taking an active role in your healthcare journey.

Kesia Torrance, NP, APRN, RN, MSN, FNP

I'm Kesia Torrance, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner at American Family Care (AFC East Cobb), where I'm proud to care for patients as both an urgent care and primary care provider. Whether you're feeling sick and need to be seen today, looking for a provider to help manage an ongoing health condition, or simply ready to take a more proactive approach to your health, I'm here to help.

I earned my Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from Herzing University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, after earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, where I graduated magna cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. I am board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

My experience includes family medicine, preventive care, chronic disease management, comprehensive health assessments, medication management, and patient education. I especially enjoy building relationships with my patients and helping them better understand their health and the options available to them.

One of the things I value about practicing at AFC East Cobb is the opportunity to provide care for both unexpected health needs and long-term wellness. I can see you when an illness or minor injury can't wait, and I can also be the provider you return to for routine visits, preventive care, and management of chronic conditions.

I believe good healthcare starts with listening. My goal is for every patient to feel comfortable asking questions, heard when discussing their concerns, and confident about what comes next.
